What is BBL?

BBL is a type of phototherapy that involves the reduction of signs of aging and skin defects such as sun damage, freckles, age spots, and redness caused by broken capillaries and rosacea, using non-invasive pulses of Broadband Light. If brown spots are the target, BBL penetrates the skin to reach the melanocytes. The particles of the cells left behind will peel or slough off within 7-14 days. If redness is the target, blood vessels in the deeper layers of the skin absorb the light and the heat created by the light damages the vessels. The vessels are shut down and the body continues to absorb the destroyed vessel remnants.

The light energy delivered by BBL will also gently heat the upper layers of your skin. The heat absorbed by the targeted areas will stimulate your skin cells to regenerate. This process will restore your skin to its natural beauty, making it clearer, smoother, vibrant, and younger looking. What to expect with Forever Young BBL

During treatment, you should feel minimal to no discomfort —as your provider gently glides the BBL® handpiece across the skin. Simultaneously, a sapphire on the end of its applicator will keep the skin cool and comfortable. After the treatment, most patients will continue to feel warm for an additional 30 to 60 minutes.

How long is the downtime with BBL?

There is no recovery or downtime after a Forever Young BBL™. You may experience some discomfort after the treatment though. The treatment may cause a mild red, flushed appearance, which resolves within a few hours. If treating a pigmented area, the area will darken, fade and then flake off within 1 to 2 weeks.

How many BBL treatments are needed to see results?

While results do vary, the body’s natural healing process of replacing damaged cells with new cells will begin in the days to weeks following treatment and will result in revitalized skin in as little as one treatment. For best results, we recommend a series of 3 treatments 4-6 weeks apart, and then once a year for maintenance.

How do I prepare for my BBL treatment?

Two weeks prior to treatment you should avoid the use of self-tanner and/or extended sun exposure. You should also stop retinol use 1 week prior, and instead pre-treat with Alastin Skin Nectar to prepare the skin. If you have a noticeable dark tan or sunburn, we do ask that you reschedule your appointment.
